What is Essential Mental Healthcare and how does it work?

We help people experiencing a variety of mental health concerns get on the path to feeling better. We care about you and your goals, and you can get care from the comfort of home. We provide talk therapy, psychiatry, and medication management for a variety of mental health diagnoses. We offer virtual care via HIPPAA compliant telehealth. Should your treatment plan include medication, your prescription will be sent to your pharmacy of choice. To start, book an appointment. We have same week availability, so you can begin care soon. From there, you’ll meet with me video to talk through what you’re experiencing and what your goals are. Together, we’ll come up with a plan that you’re comfortable with and start right away. After that, we’ll meet regularly to make sure your plan is working.

 

What do I need for a telehealth appointment?

You can access the link on your phone, tablet or computer. Just make sure your microphone and camera are turned on. In order for the appointment to go smoothly, you will need a strong internet connection and you will need to be in a private area of your home. Visits are treated with the same attention to privacy and confidentiality as any other medica appointment. Anything you say to your provider is secure.

 

What if I have an emergency or am in a crisis?

Mood does not explicitly offer crisis care, but you never have to feel alone. If the occasion arises where you are in emotional distress or thinking about hurting yourself or others, please use the following resources:

Call 911 or go to your local emergency department to receive care from appropriately trained professionals.

The Crisis Text Line provides 24-hour free and confidential help. Text ‘HOME’ to 741-741 to connect with a counselor immediately.

Call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 to talk with a live counselor 24 hours per day.

With insurance:

This depends on your specific insurance plan. To understand what your insurance plan will cover with Essential Mental Healthcare, we recommend contacting your insurance directly.

Here’s some helpful questions to ask:

- Do I have in-network mental/behavioral health benefits?

- What is my in-network deductible?

- Has any amount of my deductible been covered this year?

- What is my copay amount?

- Do I have out-of-network mental/behavioral health benefits?

 

When you book your first appointment with Essential Mental Healthcare, we’ll reach out to you directly to confirm your in-network status before your first appointment.

 

Can I submit my payment to Essential Mental Healthcare for reimbursement?

Essential Mental Healthcare is in-network with select major insurance plans, and we're working to go in-network with even more! If you have a plan that we accept, we can bill your insurance. In many cases, if you have insurance that we are not in network with, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Curious which plans we accept? Can I use my HSA/FSA towards Essential Mental Healthcare services?

Absolutely. If your HSA or FSA is connected to a card, you can enter that card information as your payment method on file. Be sure to reach out to your insurance provider if you have any questions. If you have an FSA or HSA account, you can also use those funds toward prescriptions. Be sure to reach out to your insurance provider if you have any questions.

 

How soon do I need to cancel the appointment to avoid a cancellation fee?

You will be charged a full session rate for any missed appointment that is not cancelled at least two business days in advance. This fee cannot be paid via insurance.
